Fakultät Informatik/Mathematik

Faculty of information technology/mathematics

Since its founding in 1992, the faculty of information technology/mathematics has developed into a modern educational and research institution. It offers the informatics programmes 'Information technology', 'Business information technology', and 'Media informatics', and the number of applicants for these programmes is very high.
Since academic year 2008/09, a two-tiered system of instruction has been introduced to the faculty. Three corresponding six-semester bachelor's programmes and one consecutive four-semester master's programme, 'Applied information technologies' (which features three programme directions) are now offered.
In 2009, a 'Cooperative bachelor's degree in business economics' was introduced, which enables training as an IT specialist with a degree by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) and bachelor's programme to be completed in four years in cooperation with a mid-sized company and Akademie für Berufliche Bildung gGmbH.
The faculty is closely networked with industry, economy, and management in the state of Saxony. In this way, numerous partners are available to help students realise practical study programmes and to execute mutual plans for applied research. At the same time, students are provided valuable practical contacts and professional career opportunities.
