Saxony State Prize for Design

Philipp Träuptmann (3rd Master semester) was awarded a special prize in the “Upcoming design” category. Anett Löser (former student of Product Design at HTW, now of DesignStudio Heyho in the HTW Gründungsschmiede incubator) was awarded the special prize for social design.

Purmunus Challenge 2016
The Master thesis RIG3D of Niklas Hamann (graduate of the Faculty of Design) has made it into the finals of the Purmundus Challenge. The parametrically generated, 3D-printed orthosis will in the course of this be exhibited at the worldwide leading trade show for additive technologies, the “formnext” show,  from 15 to 18 Nov. 2016.

Lecture series
The “Innovations – interdisciplinary and practical” lecture series will be held this winter semester at the HTW Dresden. The series links all faculties together and provides an insight into the research and working worlds of the university.

Pinkdot Award 2016
With her “Is(s) mir egal” project, Victoria Palm, Bachelor student in the Faculty of Design, is one of the winners of the “Pinkdot Award 2016”, which is awarded as part of the Milan “Salone del Mobile 2016” furniture trade show.

Staged Design prize - Theme for calls for entries, 2016:

The Future of Tradition Staged is the curated exhibition for product design in the field of tension between material, technology and design from Germany, the Czech Republic and Poland. For the third time, the staged design prize will be awarded from 8 to 10 January 2016 at the Messe Dresden in the context of the interdisciplinary event format with lectures and workshops.

Newcomers Award 2015
The Master course students Jakob Schwarz and Niklas Hamann from the Faculty of Design have been recognised by the “Newcomers Award 2015” of the German Industry Designer Association (VDID) for their innovative “FLOAT” stool.

Studio Zimoun Lecture,  28.05.2015, 13:30, S415

On Thursday 28.05.2015, the Swiss studio Zimoun will present its work in the context of a lecture. Zimoun works in particular in the areas of installations and sound art. As building blocks for his work, he primarily uses elements and materials from the everyday or industrial areas, which are then assembled into multifaceted interaction and experience spaces.

Speak out “Design for Change”,Faculty of Product Design 06.05.2015 5 pm, room: 415

DFC is the largest global movement of change driven by children, wherein children use a 4-step design process of Feel-Imagine-Do-Share to identify challenges in their communities and solve them. DFC is now present in more than 30 countries around the world.  In her speak out, Ruchi Junnakar will be presenting DFC’s work and she will talk about how the Design Process can be applied to the field of education and why education needs Design. more information

“L1” lightweight stool exhibited in the Deutsches Museum in Munich.
The lightweight stool, which was conceived by students of the Faculty of Design for the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden (IPF), will be exhibited in the Galerie des Zentrums für Neue Technologien in the Deutches Museum in Munich from 16 May 2014 until 10 January 2015 in the context of the special exhibition “Carbon – Material of the future”.

Great success for the Faculty of Design at the Saxony State Prize for Design
Amongst the 318 applicants for the Saxony State Prize for Design 2012, 4 former or current students of the Faculty of Design were nominated. Three of the nominations directly involved coursework and one, of our former student Jacob Müller, involved work created after completion of his studies.

an event organised by the Dresden Chamber of Trade on the theme of design and rapid prototyping.
