Application

Application documents

As an exchange student, you may use the simplified application process for an academic stay at Dresden University of Applied Sciences. The following application documents are required:

  • Application for admission (form), including:
  • Learning agreement (form)
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Overview of grades
  • Proof of language proficiency (Englisch and/or German language at level B1/B2)
  • Proof of health insurance coverage (Students from EU countries are asked to submit a copy of their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC); students from non-EU countries are required to contract health insurance immediately upon their arrival in Dresden)
  • Signed request for HTW-login
  • Passport size photo with neutral background for your student ID card named like the following: lastname_surname.jpg (in a “jpg file”, the picture should have at least a height of 4,5 cm with 300dpi)


Please have the international department or the ERASMUS university coordinator at your home university confirm the academic stay at Dresden University of Applied Sciences on your application for admission (page 3). Admission will not be awarded without this confirmation.

Application deadlines

15th June for the winter semester (October - February)
15th November of the previous year for the summer semester (March - July)

Please be aware that in case of Non-EU students a certain time for the visa procedure must be taken into account. In that case we advice to send the applications not too late.

Admission notice

Once your 'Application for admission' at Dresden University of Applied Sciences is received, we'll issue our 'Admission notice'. This admission notice may be used to apply for a study visa at the German embassy in your homeland.

In case you have questions about applying, please contact the international department or the ERASMUS university coordinator at your home university. 

In case you have technical or other questions (e.g. the learning agreement) concerning preparations for your academic stay at Dresden University of Applied Sciences, please contact the responsible departmental professor at your home university or the responsible departmental professor at our university.
