Open Access Publishing

Open Access publishing

The publishing of your results from research and development is an essential aspect of your daily scientific work. In this context, Open Access means ensuring free access to scientific literature and other materials on the Internet.

In cooperation with the Vice Rectorate Research & Development, the library offers you support and guidance in the publication process and advises you on all aspects of your open access publication. On demand, we can also give a lecture to introduce interested groups to the subject of open access and show you the various publishing options or advise you on financing possibilities.

Our support possibilities:

  • The so-called DEAL contracts enable authors in most cases to publish free of charge in scientific journals whose publishers participate in DEAL. You can find further information on our DEAL website
  • Starting in 2020, the HTW Dresden offers a publication fund to promote the publishing of articles in Open Access journals. The fund can be used to pay publication fees (so-called article processing charges, also known as APCs), which are often incurred when articles are published in open access journals. The fund is financed by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and the Research Innovation Fund (FINF) of the HTW Dresden.
  • The document and publication server Qucosa is used for the free publication, indexing and long-term archiving of electronic documents from science and industry. Members of the HTW Dresden can publish scientific papers and theses on Qucosa in electronic version. The publications are permanently archived and usually listed in the online catalogue of the library.
  • Further information can be found on the open access page of the Vice Rectorate Research & Development
