Interim Library closed: We are here to help via email and telephone until we reopen!
From 31 August, the service desk in the Z Building will be closed whilst preparations are made for the library’s reopening.
The University Library building is expected to reopen from mid-October 2026. Due to the preparations required for this, our on-site services at the temporary library will be limited from 31 August 2026.
In light of this, we would ask you, as library users, to take note of the key questions and answers regarding the library’s services:
From 31 August 2026, discharge declarations must be completed exclusively online. Please email your pre-completed discharge declaration to us at bibliothek(at)htw-dresden.de.
Please make an appointment to settle any outstanding fees. To do so, please contact us by email (bibliothek(at)htw-dresden.de) or by telephone (0351 462 3696).
You can order printed materials via the library catalogue. Collection arrangements will be made on an individual basis. The University Library team will contact you by email as soon as your order is ready for collection.
In the Bib-Lounge (Z 141) in the Interim Library, you will find a box for returning media. This is accessible on weekdays from 6.00 am to 5.15 pm. A valid staff, student or library card is required for access between 5.15 pm and 10.00 pm.
The easiest way to renew borrowed items is via your user account in the library catalogue. Alternatively, you can contact us by email (bibliothek(at)htw-dresden.de) or by telephone (0351 462 3696).
The library’s electronic resources (e-books, e-journals, databases) remain available to all members of the HTWD without restriction, as usual, via the campus network or via a VPN client.
The interim library in the Z Building continues to offer study spaces to suit various needs:
- Spaces for quiet individual work: Z 136 B
- Spaces for group work: Z 136 C
- Library lounge: Z 141
These areas are open on weekdays from 6.00 am to 5.15 pm. A valid staff, student or library card is required for access between 5.15 pm and 10.00 pm.
In addition, you can search for available rooms on the pages showing the current timetable and room allocation in the internal portal.
The library’s printing service will not be available until the library building reopens.
Yes, the Pillnitz branch library will also be closed from 31 August to 25 September. However, from Tuesday to Thursday between 8 am and 5 pm, you can book appointments at short notice to borrow items or reserve a space in the reading room or on the ground floor for individual or group work. A booking portal is available for this purpose.
