Rector Professor Ingo Gestring has joined the Advisory Board of the Business School at the Chinese partner university.
HTWD - University of Applied Sciences is further expanding its collaboration with Shenzhen Technology University (SZTU). Vice-Chancellor Professor Ingo Gestring has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Business School at the Chinese partner university. The twelve-member board, comprising representatives from international universities, companies and business organisations, advises the Business School at Shenzhen Technology University on its strategic development. It provides impetus for the further development of degree programmes, the university’s international focus, collaboration with businesses and joint research activities.
“HTW Dresden can look back on a long and successful collaboration with universities in China. Connections to the emerging metropolitan region of Shenzhen offer us new opportunities in the field of academic exchange,” emphasises Prof. Ingo Gestring.
SZTU was founded in 2018 and has since developed into a university with around 15,000 students. Its range of degree programmes includes, amongst other things, Mechanical Engineering, computer science and artificial intelligence, mobility, business and design. The university is based in Shenzhen, one of China’s leading technology and business hubs.
A long tradition of international exchange
HTWD and SZTU have been linked by a university partnership since 2020. This enables students and staff to engage in academic exchange and gain international insights into research, teaching and business.
This year, too, a group of ten students from HTWD took part in International Week in Shenzhen. The event brought together more than 70 international speakers. The programme included specialist lectures and intensive courses, as well as cultural activities and visits to companies.
Professor Gunther C. Stehr from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has been representing the HTWD regularly at International Week since 2018 and accompanies student groups to the event. For the participants, this combines an academic engagement with current developments with insights into Chinese culture and Shenzhen as a hub for technology and business.
