Winter semester at the HTW Dresden: Online and classroom teaching complement each other

The winter semester 2020/21 at the HTW Dresden will take place as a hybrid semester, i.e. virtual events such as online lectures will be linked to teaching units in presence.

How exactly the mix of presence and online components in teaching will look like depends on the requirements and possibilities of the respective study program. Especially in the technical courses of study, where practical training plays an important role in achieving the study goals, students - in accordance with the applicable hygiene and clearance rules - regularly visit the laboratories on site in small groups in order to practice what they have learned in theory.

"With the current timetable, we make sure that especially our first semester students come to the university for face-to-face classes in the first weeks of lectures. They should be given the opportunity as early as possible to familiarise themselves with the university and their local contacts", emphasised the Vice Rector for Teaching and Studies, Professor Anne-Katrin Haubold. There will be a wide range of support offers for a successful start to their studies, ranging from mentoring and tutoring, webinars on self-organisation during studies to preparatory courses in the field of mathematics.

Courses in the winter semester begin on October 12.

Current plans assume a low rate of infection with Covid-19. As soon as there are signs of deterioration, the organization of the winter semester will of course be adjusted.

We will keep you informed about new developments on the website and by e-mail.
