Prof. Martin Wittmer: "I am fortunate to be able to use the most beautiful laboratory at the university: The industrial automotive lab!"

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of HTW Dresden, we present people from the university in our portrait series. We asked Professor Martin Wittmer what special experience he connects with HTW Dresden and what he would like to see in its future development.

What connects you with HTW Dresden?
I associate my time at the university so far with challenging years that we have mastered together. I am proud of our graduates. And of course there were one or two sleepless nights before the "Commercial Vehicle Day" that we organise annually in the faculty.

Describe the university in three words.
Down-to-earth, structured, free of hierarchies

What do you wish for the future of the university?

I wish for a "good sense" to master the coming educational challenges. A lively campus with committed and optimistic teachers. Furthermore, it is my wish that we, as a place of higher education, are open to people from all over the world and actively live the idea of the European Union.

Which place on campus could become your favourite?

I am fortunate to be able to use the most beautiful laboratory at the university: The industrial automotive lab! Great place, great light, great lorries and after work I can also work on my bike here. But the "Cafe Listig" is also a wonderful place to spontaneously meet colleagues, talk to each other, brainstorm ideas, make plans - nothing is better than that.

More portraits will be published on our anniversary page in the coming weeks: www.htw-dresden.de/30jahre
