In the digital age, we face the exciting challenge of integrating innovative teaching methods and state-of-the-art technologies into university teaching. Our project group for the implementation of digital teaching in the Chemical Engineering degree programme at the HTWD is pursuing the goal of creating a future-oriented educational experience.

We rely on e-learning concepts that enable flexible, location-independent learning, as well as on approaches to education for sustainable development in order to sensitise students to the responsible use of resources and social issues of the future.

Core Competences

Our Commitment to Sustainability in University Teaching

Our working group is actively involved in the integration of sustainability topics into teaching and research at the HTWD. A particular focus is on the SI module "Fundamentals of Sustainability", in whose conception, digital implementation and continuous further development we are significantly involved. We support the creation and implementation of the accompanying online course and are also involved in the planning and realisation of the practice-oriented block seminars.

In addition to the content-related work in the module, we are committed to increasing the visibility of sustainability topics at the university. Through targeted public relations work, we promote exchange on sustainable development and sensitise students, lecturers and the interested public to ecological, economic and social issues.

We develop customised digital learning environments that enable interactive and flexible learning. We use digital tools (LMS OPAL, h5p elements, ...) and didactic methods of e-learning (learning nuggets, blended learning, ...) to support individual learning processes and achieve sustainable learning success. A particular focus is on the integration of aspects of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).

The working group contributes its experience and expertise to the development of versatile e-assessments. The digital tests aim to evaluate knowledge and skills in a targeted and comprehensive manner. These include

  • Diagnostic E-Assessments

    • Identification of strengths and weaknesses at the beginning of the learning process in order to design individual learning paths.

  • Informative E-Assessments

    • Continuous feedback during the semester to track and improve learning progress.

  • Summative E-Assessments

    • Final examinations that objectively assess acquired knowledge and competences and help students achieve academic success.

Current Projects

Our project staff undergo continuous training in the areas of digital teaching and education for sustainable development. In this way, we ensure that our teaching methods, digital tools and content always correspond to the current state of technology and didactics - and at the same time fulfil the social requirements for future-oriented e-learning and sustainable education.

Through our work, we explore new ways of learning and teaching in chemical engineering and establish them sustainably. At the HTWD, we combine proven teaching traditions with innovative approaches to create a sustainable and high-quality educational experience - and to actively shape the digital transformation of university teaching.
