DEAL agreements at the HTWD

HTWD participates in the DEAL agreements with the scientific publishers Springer Nature, Wiley and Elsevier . The DEAL agreements give HTWD members access to almost the entire journal portfolio of the three major publishers with more than 7,000 titles and create standardised conditions for scientific publishing.

The DEAL contracts negotiated by the Alliance of Scientific Organisations for all scientific institutions in Germany introduce the so-called "paper charge model": This means that funding is based on the articles actually published.

As a result, these three publishers charge authors publication fees for each publication in one of their journals - regardless of whether the publication is open or closed access. The HTWD supports its members in paying these fees with grants from the publication fund.
