Academic Teaching

My aim is to create the best possible learning environment for you. Therefore, I guarantee you these seven study promises:

  • E-mails: Answer in 24 working hours
  • Expertise & Letters of Recommendation: Preparation in 2 working weeks
  • Personal appointment: agreement in 2 working weeks
  • Examinations: Correction in 4 working weeks
  • Housework and final papers: correction in 4 working weeks
  • Transparency: evaluation criteria at the beginning of each event
  • Communication: clear, precise and "at eye level

Please support me!

  • Formulate outgoing e-mails precisely: E-mails are not chat, but comparable to "classic" letters
  • Correct addressee: address your enquiry to your contact person, not "on suspicion" to all
  • Read and process incoming messages
  • Plan early: Avoid requests at the very last second / minute / hour / day
  • Avoid unnecessary enquiries: In case of doubt, these extend the processing time
  • Ask fellow students for help: Often your fellow students know all about it

1. General Information

I would be happy to act as a first assessor and supervisor for your final thesis at Bachelor and Master level. This applies all the more so if you have identified overlaps with your proposed topic and my previous research work during your preliminary research - whether in terms of content or methodology. As a rule, an empirical survey is advisable, especially for Master's theses.

2. Current Topics

  • Currently, I am looking for interested parties for a thesis on the topic of digitalized interaction processes, which I would supervise together with an already existing practice partner.
  • A further conceivable complex of topics should be dedicated to business development with various research questions. There is already a practice partner for this topic that can be integrated.
  • In addition, work on key qualifications for the work of the future is conceivable.

Finally, the following keywords will help you find relevant areas of overlap:

  • Key qualifications (resilience, digital competence, tolerance of ambiguity, future competence, conflict management etc.)
  • Business Development (entrepreneurial thinking, decision-making and acting, innovation-oriented management, corporate entrepreneurship, innovation management etc.)
  • Service Management

In general, all topics are conceivable for both Bachelor and Master theses.

3. Administrative Workflow

Before our first exchange during my office hours, I strongly recommend that you consider the compact version of my lecture notes. This applies in particular to the W-questions presented there on slide 15; however, at this point in time a fully formulated exposé is not yet necessary. You will only need it for the official registration of your final thesis. Please contact the required second assessor individually.

Below you will find possible topics for theses. The topics are to be understood as examples and can also serve to develop your own questions. If you have your own ideas that differ from the topics listed, you can discuss them together. To do so, please contact Professor Baierl directly.

1.) Systematic evaluation of selected methods, tools and concepts in business development

2.) Possible applications and limitations of translation software for medium-sized companies

3.) Entrepreneurship Education in Digital Environments

4.) Digital key competences, classic competences and transformative competences: Which requirement profile results?

5.) Selected aspects of service management

6.) Meta-study on team composition (heterogeneity vs. homogeneity) and performance
