5th SME Day 2015

Internationalization of Saxon SMEs Opportunities and risks of internationalized business activities

Dresden on Thursday, 16. April 2015, 2 – 6 p.m.

"Saxony exports more than ever before" was a headline in the Sächsische Zeitung newspaper on March 4, 2015. In 2014, Saxon companies achieved the highest value in exports of goods and services since export statistics began in 1991.

However, the internationalization of business activities is not a matter of course for every medium-sized company. Stepping into foreign markets presents a variety of challenges for the company, its resources and employees. Many an attempt to exploit market opportunities abroad has failed. This can cost medium-sized companies their independence and existence.

This problem will be addressed at the 5th SME Day at the Dresden University of Applied Sciences. Thus the global chances and risks are illuminated today and in the future. Furthermore, ways and means of foreign trade promotion in the Free State of Saxony will be presented and the trends in foreign trade financing will be discussed. The challenges for international management in companies are also highlighted. Finally, regional medium-sized companies will present their experiences in internationalizing their business activities.

In addition to speakers from various companies as well as professors from HTW Dresden, guests from the Saxon Ministry of Economics, Wirtschaftsförderung Sachsen GmbH and Unicredit AG will also appear.

The event will also provide networking space and thus contribute to the further closer linking of science and medium-sized business in Saxony.

On the one hand, the conference is aimed at executives and employees of medium-sized companies who are planning or implementing the internationalization of their business models.

The organizer of the conference is the Center for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses of the Faculty of Economic Sciences. Its aim is to intensify the dialogue between medium-sized companies and the university and, in particular, to get students interested in working for medium-sized companies.

Registration deadline is 10.4.2015 We look forward to seeing you there!
