Current information on the library closure
Closure from 28 July 2025
The university library will remain closed from 28 July 2025 until the end of the winter semester.
This closure is necessary due to water damage on the ground floor of the library, the repair of which requires extensive renovation work, which unfortunately makes it impossible to open to the public during this time. Against this background, we ask you as users to take note of the most important questions & answers with regard to the library's services:
The university library is available to you without restriction in the summer semester until the end of the examination period on 26 July 2025.
For the duration of the construction work, a temporary media provision will be set up in the Z building (room Z 139). You can order printed media via the library catalogue and borrow, return and renew items there.
As things stand, the provisional lending service in the Z building will start on 25 August 2025. The following service times will apply until the end of the lecture-free period:
Mon | Wed | Fri: | 10 am – 2 pm |
Tue | Thu: | 10 am – 6 pm |
The library's electronic media services (e-books, e-journals, databases) are not affected by the closure and are available to all HTWD members without restriction via the campus network or VPN client.
In the Z building, temporary workstations will be set up in rooms Z 136 B, Z 136 C and Z 141 to compensate for the loss of learning opportunities in the library.
You can also search for free rooms in the internal area of the current timetable and room planning pages.
All library training courses on literature research and literature management with Zotero will continue to be offered during the closure.
The branch library in Pillnitz is not affected by the restrictions and will be available to you as normal during the winter semester.
