Studies
Our faculty offers various degrees for the direct study programmes, which differ in terms of the course and form of study as well as the degree level. In addition to the Diplom, students can also choose between a Bachelor's and Master's degree. The degree from the HTWD as a university of applied sciences also allows students to study to become a teacher for vocational schools at the TU Dresden.

Bachelor & Diploma: Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
The ‘Electrical Engineering and Information Technology’ degree programme offers a practical and versatile course of study that is characterised by small learning groups and a high number of practical exercises. It is strongly orientated towards the requirements of industry and teaches interdisciplinary skills at the interfaces of electrical engineering, electronics, computer science and mechatronics. Computer-aided work is a matter of course and an integral part of the programme. In addition, students benefit from numerous additional and support programmes that optimally prepare them for their professional future.

An integrated German course is part of the programme in the first four semesters. Diploma Distance Learning Programme: Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
The distance learning programme allows you to study for a degree while working full-time. In addition to intensive self-study components, the programme comprises approx. 8 attendance days per semester (Saturdays) and one attendance week each in February and September. The tried-and-tested distance learning programme in Communication Technology has been redesigned and offers a much broader range of degree options thanks to the choice of specialisations from numerous different areas of electrical engineering and information technology.

Master: Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
The Master's degree programmes at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering build on a Bachelor's or Diplom degree with 180 or 210 or 240 CP (credit points) and last three or four semesters, depending on previous education. In these degree programmes, students can specialise further in the fields of information and electronics, energy and drives or automation and mechatronics. After successfully completing the programme, graduates are also qualified for a doctorate, for example in cooperation with TU Dresden.
