Welcome to HTWD: More than 1,500 first-year students are starting their degree courses

The new students were welcomed at the Kulturpalast during the formal enrolment ceremony. A week of events, advisory services and social gatherings will mark the start of their studies.

HTWD visits universities in Nigeria

In early September, a delegation from the HTWD visited Nigeria as part of an Erasmus+-funded summer school. Professor Rogler travelled to Lagos and Lokoja together with seven students and academic staff. They visited three universities: Anchor University and the University of Lagos in Lagos, and the Federal University in Lokoja.

International exchange, technology transfer and start-ups were the focus of a Taiwanese delegation’s visit to the HTWD

Cooperation with Mongolia in engineering education

HTWD and the German-Mongolian Institute for Resources and Technology (GMIT) are expanding their collaboration. A new cooperation agreement lays the foundations for a binational degree programme in the Bachelor’s degree courses in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. In future, Mongolian students will be able to complete part of their studies at the HTWD and conclude their degree there with a work placement and a practice-oriented Bachelor’s thesis.

Students win the First Year Student Challenge with their ‘Semi-Automatic Gate System’

A team from the international Bachelor’s programme in Electrical Engineering has won this year’s First Year Student Challenge organised by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering with their project, the “Semi-Automatic Gate System”. The four students developed a semi-automatic parking barrier and presented their solution as part of Dresden’s Long Night of Science.

From an Erasmus semester to a DAAD prize

The HTWD has awarded the DAAD Prize 2026 to Lea Koncekova, a Master’s student from Slovakia. The award recognises outstanding academic achievement and exceptional commitment. For the student, this journey began with an Erasmus year.

Visit by KIIT founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta to HTW Dresden

HTWD recently welcomed Prof. Achyuta Samanta, founder of the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), for a visit to the campus. During his stay, he met with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ingo Gestring, and representatives of the university.
