Insight Teams
Immerse yourself in the world of prototyping, start-ups and above all - Lab X!
On this page, we introduce you to a few of our previous KickStart teams. What have the teams created in Lab X? What ideas have they been able to realise and what has become of them?
Are you curious whether your idea is any good or whether we can help you? Drop by without obligation! Get to know the people, the workshop and the possibilities. We are waiting for you! - Open workshop every Thursday.
SLYDER
The SLYDER team led by Jonas Hölzel and Justus Iserhagen is developing a smart solution to bring movement into camera shots. SLYDER is a compact camera sled that enables unique and precise camera movements thanks to a combination of innovative software and hardware. Thanks to its compact and lightweight design, the camera sled should fit into any travelling baggage and thus soon be part of the basic equipment of every photographer and videographer. They are also developing a network for sharing camera settings. With the help of funding from Lab X, SLYDER were able to manufacture parts of the sled system for their prototype and, above all, develop a gearbox to meet their specific needs. After the successful phase as a KickStart team, they immediately took the next step and founded the company. The Lab X team wishes them continued success!
allpacka
The Allpacka team led by Jonathan Vincentz, Daniela Weiß and Lukas Ludwig develops transport solutions for everyday cycling. With their first product, the allpacka One, worries about transporting everyday loads are a thing of the past. Whether shopping, picnics in the park or spontaneous errands - the allpacka One is always ready. It is firmly mounted on the pannier rack and fits snugly on the bike when folded. This allows for agile riding, easy mounting and connecting of the bike. Unfolded in a matter of seconds, the footprint is enlarged and allows you to transport up to 20 kg of load with a volume of 35+ litres. Thanks to its sophisticated design, it allows the transport of items that would otherwise be difficult to carry by bike: from cakes and salad bowls to potting soil, parcels and crates of drinks.
With the help of Lab X funding, product development has been driven forward so that the allpacka One can be ordered via crowdfunding from 3 September. Pre-registrations are already possible at: allpacka-box.de
VR4GST
In the VRLab4GST project, professors, staff and students are working on the development of a practical virtual reality (VR) learning environment for building systems technology. The target groups are students at universities of applied sciences, universities and vocational schools, various industrial companies, chambers of industry and commerce, chambers of engineers and chambers of crafts and trades with training needs. Our innovation lies in the integration of the simulation of different building trades in the virtual world and the implementation of several interaction possibilities between the users and the mapped systems. This creates realistic immersive virtual experiments with improved knowledge transfer through virtual information presentation options.
As part of the Lab X KickStart team VR4GST, cost-intensive hardware could be purchased and thus the development and realisation of VR applications could be advanced. A patent search financed by Lab X provided important knowledge regarding the German and international patents that are relevant for the development of a VR learning environment. Further learning units of the VR learning environment were developed from the first prototype developed as part of the Lab X project. These are now being used successfully in the building systems engineering degree programme and in training courses.
unimory
In the unimory project by Jessica Haustein, Jonathan Meuer and Lara Neustadt, the idea of a haptic memory game with a maximally inclusive design was further developed.
With the help of Lab X, CE-compliant materials and a suitable manufacturing process for series production were found and tested. In the near future, the resulting prototype will be used to raise the necessary tooling costs for an initial series via crowd-funding. You can find out more here: www.unimory.eu
CAPTIS SPACE
The project of the Captis Space kick-start team, led by Carl Ulrich Brinker, Valentin Petzold and Max Trenkner, aims to design a satellite for the 200 - 300 km altitude range to enable higher quality images and avoid space debris. This requires research into key technologies: highly responsive attitude control to avoid interference resulting from the residual atmosphere and a kind of protective shield to protect the satellite from highly reactive atmospheric particles.
With the help of Lab X, the first prototypes could be built, the concept tested and the technologies researched.

Munay Alfajores
Munay Alfajores reinterprets the Argentinian sweet ‘Alfajor’ and offers it as a personalised sustainable merchandising product for the B2B market as well as for cafés and restaurants and private customers.
Two biscuits filled with caramel cream and dipped in chocolate - customers can choose between different flavours, chocolate colours and toppings and have their logo printed on the chocolate or the packaging. It is important to the founders, Bettina Zimmermann and Santiago Gomez, to have a sustainable impact with their product, which is why they pay attention to organic farming, regionality and fair trade when it comes to ingredients.
Thanks to Lab X funding, Bettina Zimmermann was able to take part in cost-intensive chocolate workshops and deepen her knowledge, which enabled the team to perfect the production of the alfajores. It was also possible to purchase materials for product tests in order to expand the product range.
Munay Alfajores is already established and had a successful market launch at the Loschwitz Christmas market in December 2023. They publish where you can buy the alfajores on their website.

Go Green
The GoGreen project aims to produce 3D-printed shoes. Instead of boring mass-produced shoes, the aim is to combine unique design and style with comfort. This is achieved by combining the 3D design of each shoe with the identity and physical characteristics of its owner. Lab X's help was crucial for the prototyping phase, where several challenges arose and effective solutions had to be found in order for the GoGreen project to progress even further.
