The large number of existing search engines and databases is often a first hurdle in scientific literature research. Below we present a small selection of search portals.

The catalogue of the Saxon State and University Library enables you to search in one of the largest academic libraries in Germany, located in Dresden.

The KVK (Karlsruher Virtueller Katalog) is a meta-search engine to find hundreds of millions of books, journals and other media in library and book trade catalogues worldwide.

EconBiz offers a literature search in important German and international economic databases including the holdings of the ZBW - Leibniz Informationszentrum Wirtschaft as well as access to free and licensed full texts on the Internet.

BASE (Bielefeld Academic Search Engine) is one of the world's largest search engines for scientific web documents. The index comprises over 100 million documents from over 5,000 sources. In about 60% of the documents indexed in BASE, the full texts are freely accessible. The BASE search engine is operated by Bielefeld University Library.
